International Family Feast

FAMILY FEAST Purpose: The "Family Feast" is a free annual school PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) event that aims to promote a sense of community and togetherness within the school. It provides an opportunity for families to connect with each other, get to know teachers and staff in a relaxed setting, and build a stronger sense of school pride and unity.

 Date and Venue: The "Family Feast" typically takes place on a Friday afternoon in early October. The event begins at 3:30 pm and continues until 5:00 pm, with the main hall on the lower floor of the school building serving as our primary location. Weather permitting, families are encouraged to take their plates out into the playground, where tables are set up to relax and mingle. Here, children can play, and families can socialise until the event concludes.

 Food: The heart of our event is undoubtedly the "feast." Our Queensbridge community is wonderfully diverse, and dishes often reflect this. From chicken and jollof rice to Victoria sponge cake and Moroccan mint tea, our event boasts a delightful array of homemade and store-bought dishes, all of which are warmly welcomed.

 Activities: While structured activities are not a part of the Family Feast, children often choose to play outside in the playground. Music is available via a boombox, similar to the tunes played during morning drop-off. As the hall can become quite crowded and noisy, music is limited to the outside area.

 Fundraising: PTA collects donations via a donations box. It is absolutely non necessary to donate, however after parents requested a means to donate, the box was implemented for the event in 2023. It is placed on the inside serving tables.

 A Few Friendly Tips:  Food tends to go fast – by around 4:00 pm, much of it is gone, but the event will keep going until 5:00 pm. If you’re arriving a bit later and have a dish to share, we’re thrilled! Just find one of our friendly PTA members (you’ll spot them behind the serving tables), and they’ll help get everything set up for you. Look forward to seeing you there
